Because it does not sell well, and drug companies have not made any chess businesses yet. Under the modern "Olympic Spirit" a non-profitable sport is not a sport at all.

I can name some idiots that proposed chess being part of olympics in the past: FIDE presidents Fridrik Olafsson and Florencio Campomanes.

sport is a physical contest - chess isnt! what part of that is hard to understand? only a total moron would want it to be part of the olympics.

i know some idiot will claim that not all sports are "athletic", like shooting etc. however every sport, olympic or otherwise, is a PHYSICAL CONTEST. only physical aspect of chess is a really long hard fought game can be physically exhausting, especially for elderly players. however the game itself does NOT require physical skill or endurance, ergo it is not a sport. it wouldnt even qualify as a "para olympics" sport, even though blind people as well as physically disabled people have managed to become very accomplished players.

it reminds me of a case years ago where some idiot in a wheel chair wanted to enter the world championship in a medium distance running event and claimed "discrimination" despite the fact that he wanted to use his wheelchair while he expected the regular runners to run without assistance except for their regular running abilities.

Oh, please... they have horse riding in the olympics! seriously? Horses are a test of a HUMAN's physical and mental overall well being, but chess isn't?

Well... and I would expect a kid of your age not being THAT thick, but alas... no such luck.
