Why People Complain About People Not Resigning?

Why? Is it because they think it is "RUDE".

If I was playing a chess game and I was losing badly, and you said, "why don't you resign? It is so very rude not to. Resign. *baby noises in background*. I'm not patient enough to wait for the game to be finished."

Well, SUCK IT UP. QUIT WHINING.

Well, it is terribly inconvenient at times, and it is somewhat rude. Imagine your opponent down a King against your queen, two rooks, and king. If they don't resign, it seems like their thinking "You seem to be an idiot, and I don't think you can win this." I accept that some people may wish to play the game out, but... not to the point of sheer stubborn stupidity.

Here is a recent game I watched:

*******England:I think it's is rude that you don't resign.

*******USA: Suck it up.

Chat disabled.

NOTE: THIS WAS WRITTEN BY ME, AS I COULDN'T PASTE IT FOR SOME REASON.

 They could hope for stalemate.

Did you read my bit about "Sheer stubborn stupidity"? Stalemate under said conditions falls under that category.

Yeah. I know. You aren't to smart.

Whaat?! how is dc1985 based on his comments here not smart? i think its you whose made the wrong/false comment now (or no need for the "now" since there wasn't one anyway in my opinion).
i think he's right, stalemate under those conditions. duh, thats just stupid of whoever has the queen and two rooks.

Ahh... the refreshing Lord_Chaos is here. I like this bit in your comment stating-

"how is dc1985 Based on his comments here not smart?"

Hilarious! I hope you didn't acctually mean what I'm implying you meant, but either way, I'm glad some relatively sane people agree with me.

Note to OP, grow up...

I was in a game once with a very rude opponent who kept offering draws and telling me I should resign.  He ended up losing.  Badly.  And gracelessly.

yeah i know some myself getting angry if i dont accept their offer

I don't play turn based, and I understand the wait there can be annoying.

However, when in live chess, I prefer my opponent not to resign. I need the end game practice because in OTB play, resignations are far rarer. Live chess is the perfect opportunity to prove to myself that yes, I can win with two extra pawns.

Personally though, I'd rarther resign than go through the torture of a prolonged loss. But perhaps I am robbing others of their end game practise.

This thread, it is unbelievably ironic.

I never resign. If the other player tries to make me resign (through the chat), I won't reply. Even if he tries to start a flame war, I won't respond, I will just disable chat.

Avatar of RooksBailey

I am a strong believer in the words of Emanuel Lasker:

"I keep on fighting as long as my opponent can make a mistake."

I only resign when it is absolutely hopeless.  If you're in a hurry, you picked the wrong game as far as I'm concerned.  Tongue out

Avatar of ivandh

It is rude to not resign, and it is rude to mention that it is rude to not resign.

Avatar of idosheepallnight

Maybe its because I play people over 1800 99% of the time. But my opponents never lose with an advantage (and I include position advantage here). Nor do I normally. So I like to resign early. More then a piece or 4 pawns (in a positionally even game) and normally I resign.
