why people run out of time...??

Hello,

I was playing my first Std. time control game today & really had bad experience, people here don't resign the game just left the game. I had to wait for 20 mins in order to win a game.

What is the difference? Even if we resign will lose the points & if you let the opponent win on time that would have same effect.

Why site doesn't have system in place to announce winner if opponents didn't make his move lets say in 10mins or so...?

I agree.  That is why I enjoy the 3 days/turn.  If they give up on the game, then I am not wasting time waiting for the move that will never come.  What I don't like is when people lose their queen and then they resign -- even if they have two rooks left.

It is passive agressive. You 'hurt' them by outplaying them and so they want to hurt you back by wasting your time. You can always report people who do that to the site masters.

you can't fix immaturity. send a message asking them to quit and play again. sometimes it works

There have been many times where I've taken >30 minutes on a single move, so having a maximum time/move would be horrible.

I think that she is referring when she is going to mate in one and the person just let's the game time run out.

I did in a recent game because I was too thoughtless to resign, yet held out hope that a solution to get me out of trouble would come to me.

Get over it and move on. There is no way to understand the immaturity.

While you are waiting, here are some things you can do:

Do some tactics puzzles.

Check on your Online Chess games.

Post a Facebook status about having to wait for some dumbass to move.

Do your nails.

I prefer to change my avatar than do my nails

Did he leave as in disconnect or just afk?

If he/she disconnected then you would win in 3 min.

If afk if someone doesn't make a move in i believe 1/2 or 1/3 of the time control they will lose.... But that can be very painful in 60 min or so time controls.

I block people who let the time run out in a losing position. The way I look at it is this: The immatures will eventually form a  cesspool of players and they can waste time and do trash talk to their hearts content.
