they should leave chess behind they should just do chatting

If we waste for just a minute, there is a chance for a win, or, a draw.

So why not wait?

This last game I just had with jorissie is a strong example of why you should at least not resign when the game is close in pieces and in time. I was ahead, slipped and lost my queen and then… Well I won’t spoil it.

On another note, I just learned that some people on this site use books and explorer for openings and such. I’ve never done that and never will. Frankly I’m shocked that people do that. What’s the point? That’s not you playing; that’s the glorified use of a computer aid. Although it’s supposedly “legal” – – according to SOME – – so it’s technically not cheating, it makes no sense to me.

If you can’t remember openings without help, then are you playing here just for fun? Because when you use those kinds of aids, the rate at which you improve will slow down to a relative crawl. If it’s just for fun, then play without ratings so that others who play with ratings can play against opponents on a level playing field. I for one am not impressed by a high score on this site, because I don’t know how someone got it. I always play as if I am in a tournament – – even though I’ve never been in one. I always play as if I’m in a tournament face to face with someone else. I’ve only ever been impressed by someone’s chess playing when they beat me face-to-face, not on one of the sites. So why do I play here? To improve. And I’ve improved exponentially because I don’t use any kind of aids. I’ve never been impressed by high-performance chess players on any site, and now I’m even less impressed after learning that people use books and Explorer for openings.

Make sure you are playing for a big prize if you are so obsessed with never resigning!  The author of this thread has resigned plenty of games though, as seen easily in his game history, including one I linked to.

I didn't say that i didn't resign, but i asked your opinion. So don't blame me.

But all my teachers say never resign and play till the end for better results. Understand, glamdring27@ ?

a move can change the whole game
