1. People think that giving up is your weakness
2. It shows that you are weak
3. It gives great loss on your stats
1. Supposes I care that an opponent I will likely never play again thinks it is a weakness.
2. Supposes I care that an opponent I will likely never play again thinks it is a weakness.
3. Supposes that I would win or draw if I didn't resign since a loss by any method has the same effect on rating points.
A player who is weak can easily be identified by their rating and win/loss stats anyway. Losing all your pieces and getting checkmates isn't 'strong'.
Someone who resigns one game can ave played and beaten their next opponent in the time it takes someone who doesn't resign to inevitably lose their first game anyway while displaying their weakness for the whole length of their drawn out game.
No-one who is any good plays chess on a phone.
Sometimes I resign when someone knocks on the door. I can't play when I have company. Especially if they want to kibitz.

+1
I never seen a even an NM get check mated in OTB games - let alone the stronger players. So resigning lost game definately is not show of weakness
But we might never know what our opponents think, right?
But what if the opponent thinks "Afraid to complete the game"?
The opponent can think what they like. If they're stupid, they're stupid, it wouldn't matter to me though. A loss is a loss.
i resign when i am truly beaten and running amuck will only waste the winner's and my precious time.
A minute? It depends what type of chess you are playing. Obviously resigning in bullet chess is not usually worth it.
If you consider resigning to be cowardly you have much to learn about life.
i once had to use the bathroom and resigned my game
