why some players that are not good in chess dont learn chess and only spending their time in losing games

LazyChessPlayer3201

mmm... let me think, they don't want to 'study a game'

Some people play too fast. They just make moves without thinking and hope for the best. To play well you have to take your time and figure out what the best move is and then, and only then, make your move. Some people are just casual players and don't care to take their time this way. If they enjoy playing that way, they will not become good players but if they enjoy the game, good luck to them!

I find it more relaxing and enjoyable just moving the pieces around like i feel like it, sometimes trying to make funny patterns for instance, and see what happens.

I like making smiley faces with the pawns and 2 other pieces for eyes

bobbyDK

people have jobs and need to work and study for job.

chess don't pay living. therefore I guess most just have fun playing casual chess.

Roman wouldn't like it - he thinks everyone on this site is here to study to become a grandmaster - why else play chess.

bobbyDK

playing is fun. to study is hard.

MSteen

Chess is a game. It's fun and relaxing and interesting to read about. I enjoy playing over the games of masters on chessgames.com, and I occasionally go to tournaments and play OTB. It is infinite in its possibilities, but it's VERY hard to study it to get really good at it.

And, at 63, I have to ask myself: Do I care enough to study really hard to increase my rating by another 100-200 points to impress a tiny group of people who will still kick my ass from here to Sunday?

No.

toiyabe

Because chess is a mindless board game that results in nothing but a massive waste of time.

Football is a game, oh wait it's a sport too. How amazing.

KalashNK

Same here

Football is a religion in Scotland. Shame the players cannot hit a cow's bottom, even when provided with a banjo.

Why would a cow with a banjo be easier to punch in the bottom than a cow sans banjo?

Raspberry_Yoghurt

Ahhh I get it now ... you stuff the banjo in the cows ***. Obviously!

chess is waste of time just like football

Human culture is essentially a collection of different ways to waste time.

And moving pieces around a square board has to be one of the biggest wasted of time.

But damn it's fun.

And feels so much more productive than masturbation
