Sadly not, if I had the option though I would play a tournament every weekend. I really admire IM Jay Bonin who plays chess tournaments ALL the time!

I play for my local club and for the county and played over 40-50 over the board games last season, we have 95 minutes each to complete the game. In county games we have 105 minutes each to make 36 moves and if this is achieved we each have an extra 30 minutes to finish the game. Weekend tournamounts are the worst though. It's usually county time controls, but you play 3 games on the saturday and two on the sunday, these are mentally exhausting. But no, i won't be playing this weekend because our season doesn't start until next weekend.

Definitely. It's competition time at our club with the last round of the Rooty Hill Open this week, then the club championship commencing a couple of weeks after that.
Definitely. My club meets on Saturday mornings.
No lie in for me on Saturdays, but it's for chess, so it's worth it.
Sadly not me. None of my friends play chess and I'm about a half-hour drive and a drivers license away form the nearest place that might have a tournament.
I play every Friday afternoon.

Same here. We play Saturday tournaments that are either one game per week at 120 minutes per player or two games per week at 75 minutes per player, for 4 games per tournament. This weekend, there's also a quad on Sunday at another club near me, so I'll go to that. I've never played in a quad before. In fact, I believe this will be only the second tournament I've played in that's only a single day.

same situation here, if it wasnt for here, i wouldnt get a game.....
I played 3 games Friday afternoon at the Senior Center.

I keep thinking about joining a club, but chess isn't exactly a big thing around here, plus I'm not really good enough. If it wasn't for this site I probably wouldn't have taken it up again.

Don't worry about being good enough. If there's a club in your area, just show up, even if you're not going to play tournament games. Just show up and play a couple of skittles (non-tourney) games to learn and meet people. That goes for all of you that have a club in your area that you don't belong to.
