It's a normal statistical phenomenon. If you flip a coin 100 times, it won't go heads, tails, heads, tails. You'll have long streaks of heads and long streaks of tails. People tend to underestimate how random randomness is.
Winning and Losing Streaks
In my case the range is usually from 1400-1600, and I have actually found that sometimes it's harder to beat the 1400 players than the 1600.

yes i have the same experience. there are some players that appear to be assisted by engines. (all moves same speed, very few listed friends, no customization of avatar, very low chess tactics rating are in my opinion tells.)Their goal seems to be to cut ratings of other players. This seems to be much less of a problem in 3 day per move games.
When I play Blitz games I find that my ranking fluctuates by around 200 ranking points. Every time I play I'll either win many games in a row or lose many. However, I'm not sure if there is a difference in the level of my play or if it's just plain luck. Just recently I went on the following 10 game winning streak, can anyone shed some light on this phenomenon?
