@celot, your post has been in the forums for 2 hours at least. I saw it but haven't had the problem so I didn't reply (just telling you that it is there).
Also, if the site was only about profit only premium members would get unlimited games. While ad revenue is there, and apparently offsets some site costs, it isn't making anyone rich

Without seeing the game in question I can't say 100% for sure but most likely a disconnection and game abandonment.
The reason the site doesn't give draws in such instances is people would disconnect when losing to gain the draw.
no, the chess.com went down, it said it will be live again soon... I got no warnings and when the game shutdown because of chess.com it counted my game as a lost, and the opponent a win. which makes no sence because we were both even for points. this happen twice already this month.

Planned maintenance gives warnings. So it may have been unplanned. I always thought those games were just gone.
If it truly was unplanned maintenace, the appropriate method is to contact support directly via a ticket and they can check it out and see what actually happened.

It is just as easy to lose to a 1200 player as it is to lose to a 1700 player and, we all know what happens to our rating if we lose to a much lower ranked player.
Stop the "its not about ratings" BS. If it wasn't about ratings, then why are you complaining in the first place?

You know, you don't say how you were playing and don't link to the game so it really isn't clear what may have actually happened. I have seen other topics with people in the iOS app (not sure if it is the same for Android) where leaving the game screen resigns the game.
It counted the game as a loss but how did it count it? Of your games from yesterday that were losses, I think I am looking at the right one and it shows as resigned.
As I mentioned before, if the site goes down, normally all games are just lost (not counted at all). But, assuming I have the right game, the system marked it as a resignation so something else was likely going on.
