Rating points are not gained in matches with with a 1000+ rating difference. But it appears points are earned in the league business. Just another point of how leagues are a sham and nothing more than a marketing ploy to bolster stats for advertisers. Pairings can be easily manipulated by scamming the system. It encourages unfair play. Everybody was entered by default (without member’s permission) into this disguised tournament all to bolster site stats. The OP is right. A disgraceful marketing ploy. I canceled my premium membership after many years because of this dishonest (imo) practice.
You're a disgrace, chess.com (staff)
I don't get all those league and arena stuff..
Are they 2 separate....uhmm..."pools" (sorry can't find the right word)
Is arena like royal battle or something?
I already stopped playing since a long ago so i have no idea

There must be separate rating pools. This league business is a tournament- just formatted differently. For fair results , participants need be paired agains each other. I’ve asked about and no answer is given by staff just how members are being paired that opted out of the leagues- seems they must be in their own pairing pool and league players in another. If there is cross pairings- who knows? I get the impression Staff avoids the questions being raised so as not to discourage participation.

Pairing every single person in leagues will take a while….and use up processing or whatever it’s called.

Some people actually try to compete in the leagues by winning games properly, with matches against similar ELO players, while you allow arena matches to be a disgusting trollfest for the high ELO players, feeding them easy wins against players even 2000 ELO lower. I can't express my disgust in any better way than this picture.
Chess.com policy = zero fair play, prefferential treatment to high ELO players. Should I bother any longer?
are you sure those games are rated? They might be unrated, and those players might be his students. Unrated games don't count towards leagues.

They're arena matches. They may not gain any rating points (ELO), but they get trophies from each win normally (with arena points bonus too), which count for the leagues competition.
Basically, arena matchmaking allows high ELO players to be matched with extremely low ELO players, which leads to 95% win rates and obvious 15-30 win streaks, because of the ''free wins'' against players that are 500-2000 ELO lower.
Still no idea why chess.com allows it. Zero fair play policy.

They're arena matches.
No, they're not.
The games in the red box below are the games in your OP.
First of all, they're 20 minute games. There are no 20 minute arenas.
Secondly, arena games have the icon that looks like a helmet with swords (circled in green in the image). Games that don't have that aren't arena.

But it's true very high rated players have an advantage.
It's also true bullet arena gives more points per time spent playing than the other areans... which is a strange oversight.
They also failed to account for the fact that premium members can play simultaneous games.

Yep, very high rated player have an advantage in arenas. They can easily go on long streaks and get tons of trophies.
The #1 crystal player right now is using a different strategy which is to play large simuls. He is completing rapid games at a bullet pace, so getting about 5x more trophies than a non-premium member can (non-premium can't play simuls).

He got about 250 trophies this last hour (talking about @marks1420)
I was able to get a bit above 100 per hour by playing bullet arena.
I assume you're getting something like 60 trophies per hour by playing non-arena rapid.

There is no evidence for separate pairing pools or rating pools for the leagues.
I think pairings are being made as usual. When I first moved up, I expected they might match people in each division. However, after I made Bronze, I checked my opponents and saw they were from all different divisions.
I understand that normally a tournament pairs contestants with each other. However, the leagues are not being run that way.
/ You haven't played for more than two weeks. If you (or anyone) has actually left the league, it would be easy enough for you to check by playing a handful of games to see if your opponents are in the leagues or not. (Click on your opponent's profile afterwards to check.)
