Some people actually try to compete in the leagues by winning games properly, with matches against similar ELO players, while you allow arena matches to be a disgusting trollfest for the high ELO players, feeding them easy wins against players even 2000 ELO lower. I can't express my disgust in any better way than this picture.

Chess.com policy = zero fair play, prefferential treatment to high ELO players. Should I bother any longer?

this has nothing to do with chess.com staff and leagues. this is simply titled masters competing in tournaments...

Leagues are different from arenas. He's complaining about how arenas influence league results.

i love how half the people are like "arenas unfair because low players win them by playing only low players"

and the other half are like "arenas unfair because high players win vs low players by getting league points"

Is arena like royal battle or something?

I already stopped playing since a long ago so i have no idea

Im a nerd. The word is division

I will admit, I see no point to leagues really. I'm just here for chess, the forums, and the amazing endgame studies on the forums. happy.png.

Am I a troll? I'm leaving it for you to decide. I'm exposing facts, with proofs (in the way I seem fit to prove my argument). If my actions break any (privacy) rules, chess.com staff can simply delete this topic, along with banning my account or whatever they seem fit.

To make a short summary:

High (and very high) ELO players are abusing the Arena Matchmaking system, getting 95-100% win rate and ridiculous streaks of 15+ wins in a row, every day, every moment they want.

This is becoming a problem ONLY from the perspective of this new ''Leagues tournament''. They do not gain ELO from wins against much lower rated players, however, they DO GET League Trophies.

For some reason, chess.com allows a 2400-3000+ ELO to play 15 consecutive matches in Arena against players with ELO between 300-1600. Of course, that leads to 14-15 wins in those 15 matches. It doesn't seem right or fair to me or to anyone who is trying to compete on League tournament. Feel free to comment on that.

I'm no longer going to post any screenshots, since privacy could be an issue. However, this happens every day, every Arena match.

Am I publicly accusing chess.com? Yes, absolutely. Dear staff, I would love to hear your official position on this.

Why do I care? Well, I'm actually trying to compete on the League tournament, through the Sisiphus grind of ~50% win rate, playing every match against players close to my ELO.

Do I need those cash prizes? No. But I surely enjoy a challenge. I only wish it would feel fair through the struggle.

Did I try to solve this with reports first? Yes. Many times. Perhaps crossed the line sometimes due to frustration, trying to not vent on some poor guy who stumbled by mistake in a match against me.

Is this all wrong and I'm mistaken? Lock me in the tower!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Some people actually look forward to games against titled players.

Especially if it can't cost them rating points.

No, it's a legitimate gripe. Since there are cash prizes it's understandably frustrating that a small group of players has a big advantage.

Well, this is how arenas have always worked. I think it's more strange that bullet arena earns more trophies than blitz which earns more than rapid. They tried to make some adjustments for the time control (bullet is 3 per win, blitz 9, rapid 15) but they didn't for arena.

I refuse to believe they're too stupid to realize this. It must have been inconvenient to program, and so they decided they simply didn't care.

"It's a marketing gimmick. Why would we care about quality that goes beyond what's profitable?"

There, I answered it for you.

To be fair, they never said it would be equal opportunity. It's not such a tragedy that players with more skill have a better chance is it?

The issue I have is with the inconsistency (already mentioned above) plus they're currently allowing simuls.

When I was doing some casual checking (in other words I didn't look at large samples) someone winning nearly all their games in bullet arena can get about 200 trophies per hour... however the guy I told you about (playing simuls) got about 250 in an hour... so that's an even bigger problem.

SharpCube

I think some of you take the league format way too seriousgrin.png It is a nice gimmick and if it leads to titled players participating in tournaments against everyone instead of just playing against each other, this should be a good thing for the site.

I am glad that someone raised this question..I am also disappointed with this players league format...All titled players who are playing this league seriously are using this cheap trick of playing in arena where 99% of the players have much lower rating than them. They win against all the players easily. What's this nonsense system? I would suggest that either DON'T allow titled players to play this league or don't count the points of tournaments for all. This will make everyone play against the player of similar strength and earn points...

Don’t forget about those untitled players with a 2000+ rating

It's a common complaint.

When I was playing bullet arena a few weeks ago, I was in between games I'm checking the standings. I had to laugh... 2nd place was some 2600 IM and first place was a 500 rated player...

Anyone can win in a bullet arena, but if a 200 wins against a FM.

The same person? I know that titled players can play with their second ID rated 500.

Be interesting if one person can win both prizes..actually winning all 3 probably is the future.

Leagues are just a way for people to show how active they are on this site
