ZOMBIE CHESS!

Since halloween just past I have to post this. I recently stumbled across an AWESOME idea for a Chess Mod (modification game similar to Chess960).

Here it is ZOMBIE CHESS!

http://alizarin71.livejournal.com/9489.html

I have yet to play but it seems awesome, I wish someone would program a zombie chess computer - that'd be cool.

Btw I take no credit into creating this game - the author of the blog journal has to be the creator and I give him mad props.

Seems like this would just end up in a draw , like tic tac toe

in conclusion, I dont think "zombie chess" would be a draw at all, white waits for black to overextend itself (so as to allow for open files) and then Bang! the queen gets in behind and mercilessly slaughters a path for the king... I dont really see a drawing stragedy EVEN IF we assume the zombies promote!

Oh.... it appears that you cannot draw diagrams of illegal positions. (even though I could type all the moves in!)

okay...basically I found a win for white, simply get the Queen to the 8th no matter what the cost.

@Black: Good luck on that one.

Hating ALL pawn storms directed at me, this would be great practice. Can the game be played right now? A brilliant idea, and yes, someone please figure out how to display these games in the typical chess.com move by move diagrams. Smile

having not played it yet - looking for someone to program this - would be awesome

i have my thoughts

Firstly - people have to read - there are no draws - White wins by either eliminating all of black or having his king reach the 8th rank. Black wins by eating the white king. There is no stalemate - like checkers - u get stalemated you lose.

Second - everytime black captures a piece it turns into a piece of his own (but with pawn properties - so a white queen turns into a black pawn)

Third - the board wraps - so when a black pawn reaches the first rank - on its next move it can move back to the 8th rank - and also capture on the 8th rank if diagonal.

I think the main strats for white as the author says is to throw his pawns quickly to try and block most of the zombie attacks - same goes for rooks (since rooks cannot capture - only queens, knights, bishops and diagonal pawns).

As for black - the key is to try and stack key areas to take down most of white's attacking pieces and to have zombie "groups" (aka pawn chains not islands) working together. It's probably great pawn practice for black.

And for the strategy on moving the Queen to the 8th rank, I think that is true but becareful of black pawns reaching to the 1st rank and then able to eat the Queen next move. Queen dominates if she can get *BEHIND* the zombies.

I so want to PLAY THIS!!!

I am not much for chess variants, but this one looks fun.

board wraps?  ok, then 1. Kxe8# or whatever the notation for winning would be in this.

Avatar of Guolin

Board wraps only for black and only going from bottom to top.

Can black pawns come out of the board and grab white pieces by the ankles?

As I said before, me too!! There must be a way to program this Zombie Chess Game. I've seen an FM from chess.com play 360 chess, but this looks too fun!

I have played this before with a few of people, and my *probably wrong* conclusion is: if you are slow and methodical as black, doom is inevitable with 3 rows.

(Never take more then a single step forward, always bring in the backup, etc.) But with 2 1/2 rows, it's feasible for white to win.

*Edit*

Rooks or a queen on the outside files can make advancing there possible without casulties, so I guess it is possible for white.

What about this: Ruthless Attack Chess

I think this would be a win for black easily based on the rules.  Black could just slowly advance his pawns, and when he captures a white piece, it turns into another pawn.  I mean, I have trouble seeing as to how black could lose even if he tried.

Easy Bring out the twinkys and the the shotguns  And ill get the zombie kill of the week by using a piano attack

At best, this is a draw for Black. If Black messes up, then White wins, but White can easily use his Rooks to set up a fortress that Black cannot penetrate. Rd3, Rf3, and e4, and then White can perpetually play Ke2-e1-e2-etc. and Black cannot force his way in.

Avatar of Conquistador

Yeah necro bumping for the win!

Anyways, if people really think that black has nothing more than a draw, I would be delighted to play a gam as black.
