A Question of Text
I've also noticed some post formatting problems and inconsistent behavior with text color and itallics since the format roll-out. A couple times things looked right in the composition window but when the message was actually posted, they didn't look right. Then when I'd re-open the post to edit it, it would come up looking right again, showing that my initial formatting really had been saved, but just wasn't displaying properly in the forum.
They deliberately add colour to italics in your posts. Can see this in the html code. Short of getting them to change this practice, try this workaround: deliberately blacken the text before italicizing it. Then your black will override their default italics colour.
Likewise, for red italics, redden the text before italicizing it. If you italicize before reddening, it won't show up red!
Reddened, then italicized (Works)
Italicized, then reddened (Doesn't work)
hmm... thanks for the work-around!
I'm of the opinion that such important decisions as font-color should be left to the writer with immediate reasons, not a programmer with no valid reason. But if I can get around it, I'm ok. Thanks again.
You're welcome + I completely agree. The programmer also didn't anticipate that someone wanting red italics won't get them if he/she executes the commands in the wrong order - not ideal at all ... plus Cystem_Phailure's point that the composition window does not tally with the actual post - also not ideal ...
I think maybe that the composition window (I had no idea what that was called) doesn't reflect the finished product is perhaps the biggest drawback since you're left to guessing and trial and error which is very frustrating and time-wasting. Text color uncertainty has always been a minor irritant here, but the latest update injected steroids into the problem. Still, work-arounds are a big help.

I had noticed this in a forum entry and it seems to hold true in blog entries.
I colored a section of text black... and it showed up black. But when I italicized a word within that section, it didn't show up black. An example is the name of the magazines Nouvelle Regence and La Strategie in THIS blog entry. They're not the color of the surrounding text. I tried to change the color numerous times. In one try one phrase turned black, but not the others. In subsequent tries, none of them would turn black.
This isn't a big deal, but something nonetheless is not right.
