The Aimchess iOS app shows since the website went down just a loading indicator and a 404 not found error oode. It seems to me the app is mainly relying on web views.
Aimchess.com down
Can't wait to hear about refunds over this. What an embarrassing way to have a site go down. "Sorry, we forgot to pay our bills". Amateur hour.
I subscribed to it on Wednesday for a year, thought it was pretty neat. Now it's been down for days because the domain initially expired, I could understand a day, but come on.

That's funny, because I am in the same boat! Saw it, I liked the format, tried it out, and decided to drop the money for a year's subscription. Very frustrating indeed! I hope they provide some sort of compensation (like extending subscriptions) to subscribers who laid out cash for their product.
i tryed playing write know doesn,t work (ignore the spelling mistakes . I can,t bother to correct them)![]()
Same here J8433 and for_stabbed. Just a week or two ago I subscribed for a year. I knew Aimchess didn't get any updates for somewhat 2 years. But I went all in, as I like the services. Especially 'Explore' and Training Room.
Let's have some more patience. Within a week it should be back online. I don't care that much about getting refund for the downtime or something. I just want Aimchess to survive so it will be available!
Absolutely fuming about Aimchess's inaccessibility and their complete lack of communication!
Aimchess has been down for 3 days, and there's been not a single peep from them about what's going on, when it will be fixed, or if there will be any compensation for the disruption. They have our email addresses, they have social media accounts – there's no excuse for this silence!
This is a complete disregard for their paying customers. I'm not just disappointed, I'm livid. This is unacceptable behavior from a company that claims to value its users.
Here's a list of my grievances:
- No communication: They haven't even acknowledged the issue, let alone provided any updates or explanations.
- No transparency: We're left in the dark about what's causing the problem and how long it will take to fix.
- No compensation: They're not offering any compensation for the time we're unable to use their service.
I demand better from Aimchess. They need to:
- Issue an immediate statement explaining what's going on and when they expect to have the service back up.
- Provide regular updates on the progress of the fix.
- Offer compensation for the disruption, such as extending our subscriptions or providing free access to premium features.
Is there any official word from aimchess about the lapse in service? I have read the members comments in this thread, but the company itself should provide information to its paying subscribers for downtime as long as this.
You are right cdutell. I hope when the site's back, they will send an email out or something. (I suspect they can't send email now because of the domain troubles.) But yeah, social media is still there, as DinosaurReid says!
OK. The elephant in the room: HOW DO i CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION??? Do I have to call my bank? Change my debit card? That's great a lot of people want to be patient, but I want to cancel.

What you write about domain troubles causing trouble with communication helps me understand better. I like aimchess and look forward to enjoying my subscription when services resume. Thanks much for your reply, friend!
I just bought a subscription last week. I was really learning a lot through the site as it fit my learning style. I wish chess.com had put out a notice because I had no idea what was going on.

I really do like it, don't get me wrong. The point you touched on however, lack of communication, that one ticks me off. There's no support or even attempt to contact their paying customers, nor is there a way for their paying customers to write in to support. That's pretty crappy for a company to do. I would just like to use it, guess not much else anyone can do but patiently wait.
Frustrating.

Absolutely this.
Adding insult to injury is the fact their automated weekly marketing emails are still going out as per usual.

"View your study plan for this week" it exhorts! Yeah, sure.
As a web programmer there are a few things that make the situation complicated. First marketing emails are generally handled by a third party and would go out per schedule. But, they could use this service to communicate why the site is down. If the domain name was not renewed, the website could still be there and could be accessed by an IP address. The domain name is translated to an IP address by DNS servers which are worldwide. Once the domain name is registered, or re-registered, it can take up to 2 days to propagate through all the DNS servers. If on the other hand, they let the whole website expire and not just the domain name, it could take a lot longer to sort out. I just think that chess.com should put a note on their menu item telling what is going on.
If the problem was just the domain, by now it SHOULD have propagated to all DNS servers. I'm starting to believe there is something more serious going on.
SzenithLee in this thread said (#7): 'In my past experience this could take more than a week to resolve even after you pay to renew when the domain name expires.'
I talked to a IT friend of mine. He said the same, about a week it could take.
But still you got a point TheOldNerd. There is something serious going on. This problem wouldn't be here in the first place if there wasn't.
I can't access the site.
