Are you allowed to "move the pieces" in correspondance games?

So far, I have been just playing with the board in the online interface and doing everything in my head, but I noticed that people around the 1800 level seem to be seeing very far ahead and I am wondering if it is considered okay to set up your position and actually move the pieces to see possible variations that could result from the position? Is this considered fair or against the rules?

Sorry if this topic is redundant, I did not see it in the FAQs.

Yes. You can analyze as much as you want (without a computer or third person assistance). That's why you have an "Analyze" button right below under "Submit". Online or Turn based chess is essentially correspondence chess minus computers and minus endgame table bases.
