Average Rating

The Average Opponent Rating has returned and I think mine is wrong. It says my opponents average is 1190 and I just did the math and it should be 1294. I knew it looked lower than it should be. Why is this?

EDIT: I thought it might be the unrated games I have played, but I just added up everything without the unrated games and it would be 1309. I have played 25 with the unrated and 22 without. My stats page says 22 games, so my average opponent rating should be 1309 instead of 1190.

Mine seems about a 100 points higher than I remember.

But I'm not going to add up 4200 games to figure it out....

Wow! That's a lot of games. I only have 22 rated and 3 unrated, so the math didn't take long.

@BlueMagikarp - If you calculate the average opponent for your first few rated games up to the game you completed on 3/15/11 then you will get an average opponent of 1189.857.  This is probably where they get the number 1190.  It is probably an error in their algorythm.

I wonder when this will be fixed? It seems that a lot of people are having this problem.

I'm not sure when it will be fixed.  It seems that the algorythm doesn't include the games that were completed recently while the algorythm was down.  That is a guess though.  :)

It sounds like a good one, though. At least chess.com is aware of this.
