Best Move Arrows don't appear

This is so embarrassing for chess.com.

This is such a basic feature.

For heaven's sake, please hire an novice programmer for a week to fix this. It can't be that hard, can it?

I don't know how much longer I'll play here and then look at the pgn in lichess (arrows for best move for 1-5 lines in different sizes depending on strength, imagine that ...) before I just stay there to play.

So, it used to work fine. Then I created this thread. Funny to see it bumped still..... Lichess replayer is better anyways so I would stick to that!

I'm having the same issue. It's impressive to me that this hasn't been addressed yet. Lame.

Wow, I always just assumed the arrows were a benefit of a membership, but yeah they show up for free on mobile. How is the web version not fixed yet?

I have the same issue, but strangely enough only on my updated Chrome on my desktop. I still have a MacBook Pro from 2010 and there it does show the best move arrows by default when analyzing. So it must have something to do with new browsers, as I haven't been able to use the latest Chrome version on my laptop for years now. I never used that laptop for chess.com so I was happy to see the arrows there but disappointed I couldn't toggle them on my desktop. sad.png

As far as I'm aware, best moves don't show on the website on a standalone analysis tab of a game, unless a Game Review has been completed and the Feedback toggle is on.

Same problem still in 2024

That's not a feature of the web analysis without a review being completed.

That's a shame considering it does work on mobile

jazzzy004

Is it possible for someone to show a screenshot of these arrows when/when not using game review? My arrows show on mobile and web when using game review.

you need to go to custom position/practice against computer. there's basically "analysis" for you to think and "computer analysis" where the computer will make moves and you can move back and forth through the alternatives.

go to opening explorer and click the target icon that says practice against computer.

i believe that leave it this way so there are options for studying. opening explore for the database and common moves, analysis to self study and enter pgns, and then activate the engine to assist. its probably different on mobile because they either dont care about web (though more options make it more versatile), or mobile user is more likely to just want to know best moves so they stream line to best move analysis.

How come this has not been fixed yet for the web version?

Show Threats option works fine but Show Best Moves doesn't

isaksensolar

IS there a resolution to this problem yet?

isaksensolar

The show threats option works completely fine, but it does not show the best position to play. have cleared cache, restarted computer and tried in multiple browsers.

Best Moves only works on the web only if a Game Review has been run on the game already and will show what the best move was after making the move on the board.

Doesn't work for me either. Has this been removed?

On the web they only show if a Game Review has been completed on the game.

Yes that's what I have been doing. I play through the browser and make sure the Game Review has been completed too.
