Board Resets to Initial Position

Whenever I am in the middle of a game (usually within the first 8 moves) the board resets to the initial position. It always happens. I had to cancel my chess.com membership because of this. I simply can't finish a game without this happening.

App or website?

I haven't seen any similar reports.

This happens when I play on the chess.com website in all browsers including Microsoft-Edge, Firefox, and Chrome. I did not know there was an app. How do I get the app?

The app is available in the app stores for mobile devices.

Hi Martin. I don't want to play chess on my cell phone. Is there an app for a desktop computer?

Not officially. If you use Chrome you can potentially use the Android app, though I've never used that option to see how it works.

My question is regarding playing on my Phantom Chess board linked to Chess.com.

I was in the middle of a game playing against a Bot. I lost internet connection and my board reset itself back to starting positions. I just assumed I could close the connection and reconnect and start a new game. But when I do wand I go to the play a Bot the same Bot comes up with the virtual chess board showing the pieces in the same places they were when I originally lost the connection and a dialogue box saying that the game is still in progress.

Can anyone tell me how to close a Bot game in progress so I can start a new game?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

You'll need to resign or otherwise finish the game to reset.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I looked for a way to resign but could not find a method of doing so. Can you provide instructions? Much appreciated.

It's a chance for you to improve your openings. Start fresh and in a winning position!

I've been having this happen to me repeatedly on daily games when using browser. Generally if I just refresh the page a time or two, it will show the actual game. I haven't tried making a move when it loads it at starting position, though I suspect it would just throw an error if I did.

If you’re on the website it’s the flag near the bottom resign

If you’re on one of the apps, it’s in the game menu.

Thank you Martin. I will try your suggestion. I am using chess.com through the Phantom App. It links to my board so I see the pieces move virtually but the physical prices move on my board. A fun way to play against the Bots. It would even more fun if I won occasionally.😂

Have you tried the Coach function? It offers some good tips to get better. Well worth a shot.
