If you abort to many games, you are placed in a pool with other quitters. And the only option you have is Resign.

Yes, I know that already (mentioned in the OP)
But I didn't press the option to abort the game. My opponent wasn't moving, so I reloaded the page, and it said I resigned.

Reloading the page is taken as resigning.
Yes it is. I just tried it now, i was black and my opponent made a move, i reloaded page, took like 2 seconds, soon as it was done said game aborted. now if u've aborted so much that u dont have the option, if u reload instead of it just aborting u will automatically lose.
That normally wouldn't be a problem, however, if I'm Black in a game, and my opponent doesn't move, the server for some reason resigns the game instead of aborting it.
Note: I reloaded the page, and it said I "resigned". My opponent did not make a single move, and I have the "confirm resign" option on, so I didn't accidentally click the resign button or anything.
This has happened to my sister's account as well before.
I lost 37 rating points because of this (high glicko) :/
