SOLVED - BUG - The site page keeps reloading -> I lose match by “abandon”

Sort:

The site page keeps reloading and as a consequence I lose the match by abandon, even if I didn’t made a move. I don’t have time to make my first move, as black, since after white’s first move, the site page reloads immediately and after, it appears that I “abandoned” the game, which I don’t. It happened in 960 games. I even don’t want to try on normal Rapid chess, so my rating don’t get damaged.

Please, fix the bug.

Try clearing your browser cache.

Do you have any plug-ins/add-ons? It could be one of interfering with site code.

Man, believe me, I love this site for community and all the chess tools. But the functionality sucks big time. Right now I am coming from a freshly started 960 game with white, I did my first move and immediately the page reloaded, then popped up a window telling me black WON. It’s true though, I saw a change in the sense that I have no deducted points. But it’s annoying to have multiple reloaded pages when you want to start a new game. And yes, I keep clearing the cache. I don’t think it’s a memory problem since Firefox is my only opened app.

Again, I am on Ipad, last updated Firefox, no extensions installed and chess.com is the only tab.

This problem of reloading page I have also when resolving Puzzles. I wrote a comment already about this issue. This problem arose since your big site changes, maybe a month ago.

I have Performance and Functional cookies enabled.

Last year and even this year in January maybe February and Mars the site worked just fine without these reloading problems.

I go back to 960 games, maybe from 3-4 reloading pages I will have a steady page to play the game. It’s a pity such an awful functionality for such a good chess site.

I try hard not to come at the conclusion, that this is intentional for non-paying users.

Thanks anyway for reply.

It likely a device related issue. I'm not aware of any site code that would do that and as far as I can recall, this isn't something being reported by other members.

Here is the proof. A new game: I played this game, see bellow, the position is fresh because I tried to start a new game, but it appeared this previous game, you can see the moves on the right side. Also, it can be seen in the second image when I try to start a new game and the engine is searching for a new opponent. After the second image, it is reloaded the first one, the previous game

It’s curios. I have no issues with other apps on this Ipad. Also, other chess sites like lichess or chesstempo, don’t have this reloading problem, in this Firefox on this Ipad. So, it must be something wrong with chess.com functionality.

I think I found the culprit of this “reloading” problem. See the picture below.

Normally, at the end of the game, I press “New Game” up right button, next to “Analysis” button. When I do this, the page keep reloading, even if it shows that is searching for a new opponent.

SOLUTION - If I close the ‘Analysis’, by pressing that little x on top of ‘Analysis’ button, then it appears the page from where I can start a new game, and the new game page is steady, no more reloading.

I think, that normally, a new game should be started without closing the Analysis, by pressing the button “New Game”, near the “Analysis” button, since it is there.

I would mark this thread as SOLVED in the title, but I don’t know if I can edit it.
