Bug with rating?

Sort:
Urpekontzi

I've just won a game, but my rating went down (from 1775 to 1761). How can it be corrected?

I believe if you play a player with a lower rating than you, there is a possibility to lose points.  You can check on the "details" tab on your game and click "show rating adjustment" near the word rated.  This will tell you what will happen to your score if you win, lose or draw.

It is definately a bug. Ctettam9 is incorrect, as at the lowest opponent rating you simply gain 0 points. You should inform staff members of this.

My mistake.... :)

Thanx, i'll inform the staff.

Maybe the computer software thought that you should have won the game quicker?Laughing

Maybe it's the new rating algorithm, which includes subjetive evaluation of your play... it's something like: 'ok, you won that game... but anyway we think you're a patzer, so we won't give you a rating that ovbiously you don't deserve' Wink

I didin't believe it at first, I thought it was just something you overlooked, but indeed it is true you LOST rating points for winning a game. You should report this immediately to the staff, that is definately a bug of some sort.

i think it depends on how you play to i won a game against someone rated only 20 pts higher than me in live chess but i gained 140 pts because i found a 15 turn forced draw that my opponent blundered on and i won even though i was at 1 point 1 turn away from mate and was 3 turns away from mate other than my draw.

If your rating is 1700 and you play against a person rated 1000 and play a game like this you might lose some rating. (i don't know if thats how it works but that is the only reason i can think of)
