Can you find out if a message has been read or received?

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way find out if a message has been read or received?

I have played quite a few great games with this guy but in our last game he made a huge blunder and resigned. He had me totally beat if he hadn't made the blunder on his last move. I just wanted to tell him he played a great game and was wondering if he got the message. We never have met in person but he is a friend of a friend so I felt it was OK to message him. Thanks to all that reply. 

There is no way to tell unless they reply to you.  Though, if you didn't receive an error, then you can be pretty sure it was received.

Thanks Martin, thats what I kind of thought. I didn't receive an error but I noticed on other messages I have received  it said on the bottom something along the lines of  " Chess.com only accepts messages from friends" Wasn't exactly sure what that meant.   Thanks again for your reply.
