When a friend and I are both logged on to Live Chess and we are on the phone to confirm that we are both on the same page, we are not visible to each other in the 'Friends' tab for a challenge. Any ideas why?

Thanks for your response Kohai. When I select the 'play live chess' button (above number of players on line) he is on my friends list but I do not show on his list.

Usually when that happens its because one of you sent a friend request the other hasn't yet accepted or declined.

Can both of you check the right side of your 'Friends list' page here

http://www.chess.com/home/friends.html

and see if it shows either has sent or received a friend request not yet

accepted ?

I sent the request some time ago and he accepted. He is on my friends list; I'll have to make a call and see if I'm on his list. Is something more required? Does he have to send me a request also?

No he just has to check his friends list to make sure he has clicked on accept.

O'Kay, we both now appear on each others 'friends' list and when I offer a challenge to play he gets a blank screen and I get a 'error on page' message. We are both using Explore 9 for access. Also, when he goes to the 'My On Line Chess' page he dosen't get the same screen as I. The six rectangular buttons (including 'play live chess') across the top are missing. Is there an update he needs to install?

Sorry, bad info; I am using IE8 and the other party is using IE9. He is going to try to switch to IE8 and see if that helps. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help. Changing both parties to IE-8 solved the problem.
