Can't see the pieces

I go to FB chess and chess.com and can't see my pieces most of the time.  I run xp, chrome.....have cleared my browser hx, java script enabled......sometimes i can play, sometimes not....more often not! Help!

yes, using google chrome. have merged fb and chess.com acct thinking that would help also.

When you can't see the pieces, is this when you're playing on the facebook app or when logged into Chess.com ?

i've tried both....can't sees the pieces on FB or chess.com.

When did this start happening ?

I see a pawn in the top left hand corner.

try firefox 4, that works well.

ok, on firefox4 now. can't see the pieces here, either. I was able to play last nite, after many tries. I just tried going through FB and also chess.com.  Javascript is enabled.  This has been going on a long time......but I'm always able to get in eventually, but not today. Computer is year old dell.

Still just see pawn in left hand corner with that link.  Have McAfee security. Never been prob b4????

McAfee has chess.com as a secure site, so that shouldn't be the problem....???

finally got in tonite through firefox.....but now can't get in again.?

Have the same problem. Firefox and Chrome seem to have the same problem. Reinstalled Java. Restarted browser and rebootet.

First time I resigned and suddenly it worked again.

Would be thankful for any idea!

I am having the same issue intermittently. This is from a work machine and another guy has the same issue at the same times as me, so assumed it was some IT setting. This happens accross IE8, FF 4, and Chrome. I have tried both regular log-in and Facebook. I do see an error message in the browser log mentioning the object "FB" not existing.

The pieces were actually showing up for me just fine this morning, then my co-worker complained that he couldn't see his, so I refreshed my screen and then they were gone. Tried all the usual cache stuff, restarting rowser, rebooting, no help.

I can also see the png of the piece you linked to.

If you're logging in from a work computer can you check with your administrator if they have images blocked or have updated any software on the computers?

I've encountered similar symptoms in the past with some web-filtering software on my corporate network.

You'd think I'd take it as a hint that I probably shouldn't be playing chess at work, but no, I worked to get it resolved and now everything works.

Could be a similar problem.

I think the problem is Script related. Javascript or perhaps an adblocker of some sort. I use No Script and unless I allow Script on the page I am viewing I cannot see the pieces either. I have not tried to track down exactly what javascript I am allowing that enables me to see the pieces but I will try to remember to do that next time I play.

the peices appeared when I unblocked the script for chess.com.

Solution would seem to be to enable javascript as that is required at this site.

I am thinking it is this Checkpoint software that IT has installed. I do have javascript enabled and it has worked in the past for me here. I think they mess with their settings or update the software and it messes the site up. I can't ask them to fix it, but at least I have my Android App so I am still in business. My coworkers are not so lucky.
