That's descriptive notation
First states what piece is moving and then where is moving.
thank you @granitoman and what does the y stands for?
go to wikipedia and type descriptive notation.....it is a little more complicated than algebraic notation
what does the y stands for?
Nothing. Letter "y" has no specific usage in descriptive notation. Maybe you are misreading?
Maybe he's refering to the x which stands for captures?
Thank you everyone and sorry for my misspelling I meant the latter t?
