The chess mentor program works the same way as the website, but contains less overall material and does not have the ratings tracking functionality to assess your progress. You must have net access to use the web site. I use both the program and the website.
chessmentor.com

The material added to ChessMentor since chess.com took it over is generally of higher quality than the original lessons. Oh what they are trying to impart is of course just fine, but many of the original lessons fail to take advantage of the teaching opportunities inherent in the system. Obviously an incorrect response on your part that is met with "No, that is not correct; try again" doesn't teach much. In contrast, I have found that chess.com's authors bend over backwards to think of every possible wrong answer and respond with an explanation of WHY it is wrong. Don't get me wrong; the original module is well worth doing, I just think the new stuff is a cut above. Obviously also a diamond membership opens up all the other resources of Chess.com as well.
Hi,
I'm seriously considering signing up membership because I really like the Chess Mentor program. However when i googled "chess mentor" there is another website chessmentor.com that offers almost the exact same thing as what chess.com offers, and the program is written by the same authors. The only difference is that chess.com offers a yearly subscription while chessmentor.com allows me to purchase the entire software at once and use them as and when i like.
Which should I choose? Is chess.com Chess Mentor program constantly updated or are those two exactly the same?
