"Claim victory" button

Does anyone else think having a "Claim victory" button, would be useful. In case you have a clearly winning position and the other player disconnected you could use this button to claim victory and not wait for the timer to run out. Weather the position is clearly winning could be determined by any chess engine and there might be some penalties for the abuse of this button (making it unavailable for a certain perion).

A winning position does not mean you have won the game. I understand the frustration of an opponent disconnecting (it has happened to me before), but if it was an accidental disconnect and they reconnect, I think they should have the ability to keep on playing.

Lichess.org has a 'claim victory' button. I have no idea how it works but thinks it comes up when the opponent disconnects or something. It seems to work fine. They also have a 'regret last move' button, which is ridiculous and mess up a lot of games.

What I had in mind was when the game really was practically won. Like mate in one, two, or a score of +10 (not unreasonable when a rage quit occurs). Otherwise I agree, that they should have the chance to keep playing.

I like the idea of the regret button. But it should also be the other player's choice. Say I see someone make a horrible move, I would like to be able to give the other player a second chance. Or maybe I could ask for one, and they give it to me

Problem with the regret button is that all the kids go bananas as they are about to lose. The requests for a regret keeps coming in and if you keep saying yes, to be friendly, you'll soon be at the start of the game.

triturus

even GM,s make bad moves sometime...so after j,adoube we get  i regret

last move? whats next.... i need a coffeebreak?

Mudkillz

I don't know, like they can request it once or twice in the game? But I see your side estren, it's like people spamming the draw button when their losing.

Mudkillz

is it in v3? Im using it right now, but I haven't seen it yet

You can't wait the 60 seconds for victory? Also I've had people disconnect in a lost position reconnect and resign.

1. You agreed to a game with a certain time limit.

2. If you dont have the patience to play the game, chose a faster time limit.

3. This seems to be a trend, being impatient.

4. I wish there was a button to mute all the impatient people.

5. If you dont have the patience for a game that requires it, i would suggest another game.

If you don't like impatient people, maybe you shouldn't be here.

I have the patience, but I still think this might help. If you have a mate in one and you have to wait 1min, because the other guy disconnected, I think this would help a lot of us, who just want to go to the next game. (I mostly play 5min chess, so 1min is 10% of the game time, which is a lot)

Yes, a claim victory button is absolutely necessary in my point of view. It is really frustrating when a player loses the queen in the beginning and then doesn't play a single move for more than 10 minutes. Waiting for that long seems dumb.
