is there any way to take advantage of the colour you're playing?

Yes, you simply call your opponent a racist if he takes one of your pieces

In my humble opinion, the only way to take advantage of your colour is with either tempo (white being given the first move) or by being the one with your hands on the steering wheel (being able to choose the opening, many time black, for example 1.e4 and black can push the game into different territory depending on 1...c5, 1...g6, etc...) though many times white can take the initiative right back and call the tune. For example, 1.e4 d5 (black decides to play the Scandinavian) 2. d4 (white doesn't like the scandinavian, black is forced to play Blackmar-Diemer gambit). That's all I can think of at this moment.

White moves first.

White can not move again, until Black moves.

If this is a timed game, Black could wait until the very last second before moving. The player playing white might relax at that very last second and make a move just to move the game along, the player may not care for waiting until the very last second to move, which may affect their Chess playing. Is this fair you might ask? The better Chess player of a game will win or their is a draw or one player will just, do I dare say it give up.

if you have pieces made of glass you can blind your opponent with the white pieces, or burn/melt/etc one of his pieces while he doesn't notice.

if you have a chocolate  chess set then you can let your opponent sit at the black side if he like black rather an white chocolate, and let him eat all of his pieces!

the white pieces might be painted in a radioactive colour, wich would kill you opponent if the game lasts long enough.

you can try to hide your pieces on thier clour squares if it's close enough to the piece colour.
