I've been experiencing this problem as well. On the second turn the CUP will lock up and the "Computer thinking..." displays. I even left the match up for an hour and when I came back the computer was still thinking. It's never happened to me before so maybe the Javascript was corrupted somehow?
Resolved: Computer thinking...
Same problem. usually happens when I am winning!
What browser are you guys using. I have been using Chrome.
It just ended a won game for me. I am getting frustrated.
I just use Internet Explorer since everything is supposedly compatible with it.
Thanks for your input on this topic,

Well, it has locked up on me in winning positions 3 out of the 4 last tries. At this point "Play Against the Computer" is essentially unusable. I'll try it again tomorrow and hope for better results.

YOUR "PLAY AGAINST THE COMPUTER" IS BOGUS! MY COMPLAINT IS THE SAME AS THE ONE ABOVE. AFTER PLAYING HUNDREDS OF GAMES AGAINST THE COMPUTER, ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DISPLAYS "COMPUTER THINKING" AFTER AS FEW AS 2 MOVES, AND IT NEVER MAKES THE NEXT MOVE. FIX THE PROBLEM, PLEASE.
same issue 4 times today and that too it happens only in when im in a winning position.its like the computer is hell bent upon playing a spoil sport.looks like some technical issue.
I sent an E-Mail to Chess.com tech support. They stated they are working on it. Email sent 18 Dec 2011
In "Play Against the Computer" does "Computer thinking..." really mean "the system is locked up"? This happens a lot and the only way I can get it going is to quit the game and start over. This has become somewhat annoying.
