Custom set up?

I recently accepted a challenge to play a “standard, one day, correspondence, you play black, unrated…” game. I’ve done this numerous times without issues, until now.

The game lasted exactly one move by white, checkmate! What I saw was white had two queens and three rooks, strategically placed to win in one move. So, some type of custom set up.

I perused the opponent “player’s” history and found numerous, identical won games. I also found in their history, a number of games that, long ago when used to play rapid,  I lost to this player. When I opened the rapid games, I found it was a bot.

What I want to know is if this has happened to others and how does one know before accepting the challenge. Seems like a weird glitch, (aren't they all?) that serves no purpose other than to artificially build up a number of wins.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy chess.com, but this doesn’t sit well with me. I tried to let it go, but here I am. I tried to use the help feature, but chessica apparently thought I was talking about the forbidden ch____t word and that didn’t help.

So, any thoughts?
