False draw system claim?

agree that the mate is possible but your opponent needs to help you by going in the corner otherwise the mate is impossible
K + N vs K + Q = Not possible.
K + N vs K + 'x' amount of Q + Anything else(Besides Queen) = Possible.
K + N vs K + Anything(Besides Queen) = Possible.

not possible to reject a draw claim, and ... what about
3 passed pawns + N + R vs N ...
the arguement about the knight can extend to other positions ...
K + N vs K + Q + B is possible
... but hardly likely and possibly a bad rule to allow K + N to win
Are you sure you didn't repeat moves ?
It's impossible to decline a draw claim, but possible to decline a draw offer
- if moves are repeated 3 times then the draw button causes a draw automatically
- In fact if the same position is reached 3 times with some in-between moves then the draw button does NOT work! this fact also needs to be fixed.

OP doesn't understand "insufficient mating material" (IMM).
There is a world of difference between "possible" mate and "forced" mate. If White has IMM and Black (with mating forces) runs out of time, it's a draw. Preferably, if both players have IMM, then the game would be automcatically called a draw regardless of time left on the clock.

Hi, I was just playing a bullet game where my opponents time has run out and we both had kings and 1 knight each. Mate is possible but the system called it a draw?? Please fix!
Consider this. Two ratings driven players get into this situation. Now add bonus time.
They play until the death of one of the players. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/02/22/chinese-man-dies-day-gaming-binge/
Who is responsible?
1 - The site (then soon to be under new management.)
2 - The surviving player
3 - The deceased player

Sounds to me like you just don't want to lose a game if you fail to control your time management properly.

I also believe that USCF's rule even when the clocks run out still call for the mate to be possible by reasonable means, not any means as FIDE permits.

There could be a rule for the time/material draw ... if the side with time remaining can checkmate with any sequence of moves then its a win, otherwise a draw ... this is with the side with no time making no modifications to the position ...
and another case ...
Edit : If black makes no moves.
So for the example with the knight and many queens there is a possible mate if black can't move ... should be a win ?

The chess.com position on draws is a compromise between two USCF rules, insufficient mating material and insufficient losing chances (similar to FIDE 6.9 and 10.2). Insufficient losing chances requires adjudication before the flag drops. As there is no means of adjudicating a chess.com game, positions where checkmate is unlikely, although theoretically possible, are drawn when the flag falls.

Yes, this is a good point. It's not really realistic to expect that an arbitrator can be made available to enact the insufficient losing changes rule, and without that rule the insufficient mating material on timeout rule is much more open to abuse.
As a result, this seems like a really reasonable compromise.
