firefox gone wrong on me!

Firefox has suddenly decided not to display the chess boards in posts- i.e. as in the daily puzzle. It also wont let me write in these post new topic boxes (using iexplorer to write & post this). Strange thing is I can play my normal games just fine.

I have deleted all cookies- no change.

I have reinstalled firefox up to the latest release- no change.

I have the feeling some script isn't being alowed to work it's magic but how and why I don't know.

 Any clues anyone?

Try going through your options and make sure chess.com isn't on the list of sites that aren't allowed-ALSO-make sure Java is enabled!

whoah. that is weird. did you try a super refresh, dumping not only cookies, but all assets (javascript, images, etc)?

The same thing happened to me a week or two back.. trying to remember what i did to fix it.... hmm, im pretty certain it was a Firefox "addon" that did it.. I was frustrated so just uninstalled most of my Firefox addons and it worked again. I think it may have been "NoScript". Do you have it installed? I also think i tweaked around withthe settings but couldnt get it to work. It used to work fine till i think NoScript had an update perhaps?

Basically, go through each addon in FF that has anything to do with scripts and try first disabling them then uninstalling as sometimes disabling didnt seem to work for me.

Or.. it could have been a cache issue lol.. sorry, memory bad atm. As Erik suggests.. dump everything.. actually that could have been it... yeah, try that first, clear cache totally and then shift F5.

Make sure Javascript is enabled.  Tools>Options>Content tab>enable javascript.  If it's still not working try control+R to do a hard refresh.  Still trouble?  Then clear the cache Tools>Options>Advanced tab>network tab>clear now.

Hope it works! Smile

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I am not sure exactly what the problem was but it is somehow righted itself.

Always the same, you spend ages diagnosing and wokring things and the thing goes and works on its own.

All the info is certainly useful and if I have trouble again I will use this post as reference.

thanks again.

it sounds like you have an addon installed, If your using noscript theres an option at the bottom right corner or at the bar tab where u can enable website scripts(little S, right click it).

If you just can't get the hang of it just unenable the scipts tools>scripts>, extentions tab, click Noscript, addblock, wat ever script you want to disable & click the disable(if you just want to close it for a short while) or uninstall up 2 u gl.
