Resolved: Former opponent's account now closed.

I recently started playing online chess and got murdered by Dicronth in one of my first few games.  I now see that his account has been closed for cheating.  I only lost a few rating points considering he was over 2100, but it was also one of my first few games and I was wondering whether or not my record/rating could be changed due to the fact he apparently cheated.

Thanks.

That is the problem when playing longer games on the internet. You never know who you are playing against. Therefor i only play Blitz games. Problem there is if you have a bad connection and a long lag that isn`t too funny either.

Unfortunately, they will not retroactively adjust your rating because one of your former opponents was found to be cheating.   This very topic has come up before and that has always been the answer from chess.com admins.  Not sure if that answer is officially written down somewhere, I haven't looked.

Games or ratings are never readjusted because someone gets tossed for cheating.  It's just too interconnected.  Do they adjust every single game the booted person ever played?  If so, that means every opponent's opponents all have to have all of their games adjusted from the date of the first game, and then all the opponent's opponents' opponents, and on and on.  And how do they know when the person started cheating, or if he did so in every game?

In the long run this won't matter at all to your rating.  Just keep playing games. Cool

I once had two games in progress against a 2200 who was booted for cheating, I won both games on time, what a bonus.

Its true, a lot of chess.com rating points are getting put into cheater's accounts.

True. It's rather silly to worry about a few rating points anyway.
