Ironically, batgirl, you may have just initiated a larger and cruder wave of friending upon yourself.
Changing subjects, have you written anything about Harry Nelson Pilsbury? I've looked at some of his games, and they're brilliant!

Pretty annoying, yeah. That guy (GBC123) also "hacked" his profile views and boosted them to 100 000+.
Nothing dangerous, but unpleasant. I reported it yesterday. Ticket #388... I forgot. :)
How do you hack profile views?
Don't know: http://www.chess.com/blog/GeorgeBlackChess123/20000-profile-views

Pillsbury was brilliant.
I've written mostly light stuff, such as:
H.N.Pillsbury's Chess Career by Mrs. Rhoda Bowles
H.N. Pillsbury vs. Mr. Rhoda Bowles
The Chess Player's Mind by Pillsbury
Mrs. Pillsbury
Pillsbury and the Ladies
Hasting 1895 - the contestants
i believe Mi5 is behind this.btw i know how tht friends request works.

Lou, I guess some people take friendship seriously and I won't blame them.
Sarah, click on the link given by supreme commander (#8), it will take you to another thread about this bug, the video is better there. If the video is too fast, just pause it on certain images. The bug seems to stand on the sent messages page where you can reverse the direction the message takes, and have it sent to yourself. You are then receiving the friendship message, and you accept it. That might be what this member did, voluntarily or not.
It seems it may have been a glitch. Can you please message me what the members username was so that I can try to see exactly what happened? Thanks!!
Thanks everyone. This seems to be a bug in the system as many of you mentioned. Even with the preference for Friend Requests unchecked, they still get through and are automatically accepted. This has nothing to do with paranoia, fear of friends (or aliens) or some psychological need for privacy but, rather, for my own, very practical and personal reasons. I think chess.com will at least attempt to resolve the issue.

Look, i tend to take friendship also serious, but it does not require a list imho. What does it mean to befriend somebody on the net? I just do not see a lot of upside in filling the list. You are all friends until proven otherwise.
Same thing happened to me batgirl.....ufffff I feel good now.....I thought I was losing my mind!!! hahahahahahahaha He was nice and polite but I NEVER send "friend requests".....thank you for the post
Well, to have you in his/hers friend list, i imagine. To show his mother?
Having Annabella in your friends list isn't so great though

Hey batgirl, yes this is a rather odd bug. Someone else reported it and I've now sent it to the programmers to fix :)
