Full list of current games in V3 is gone

I hope this is a temporry problem, but not being able to see all my current games has pushed me back to V2, which I've not used in well over a year other than to grab a file download (a feature not carried over into V3, and no argument from me).

In V2:

I want this list so that I can see "all" ("all" might have to paginate for people with  lot of games, but "a lot" is more than (pick-a-number) 50 which is how many a page in the archive shows.

I have filed a suggestion and two bug reports within V3 as I found various limitations.

Honestly, I'm one of those who prefer V3. I've learned it, it looks nicer and if it''s not as quick it's good enough for everything I need after I figured out a workaround or two.

I can confirm this functionality has now changed the current list of active daily games no longer displays the entire list of my games only those that are currently awaiting a move from my side.

This looks like a bug , its not much use as a feature ,when will the current list be restored to its original functionality ,displaying all  my games ?

Thank you

Cheers

I've heard there is a ticket opened for it, and I certainly made a bug report myself.

I doubt the change was fully intentional; perhaps some code sharing got shared a little more widely than it should have been.

This change I'm pretty sure will be undone. In the meantime, your daily page

https://www.chess.com/daily

at least allows you to page through your games. In "pages" of nine and with your archive wasting space at the bottom of the page, but it is still possible to get to every game, your turn or not.

(I'm not enthused by the workaround, but it is one; perhaps I should have posted it here sooner.)

My lapse into V2 was temporary; I'm too used to V3 now. happy.png

Thanks for the workaround,  at least for now the games are  visible on the daily "Pages"

Same problem for me. I like being able to view all my current games because they are in pages of 50 and not 10.

That doesn't seem to work for me; I see my first nine games only.

This is what the tab looks like for me. I've added the red arrow. happy.png

skelos, that helps a lot.  Thank you.

I just have the "less-than-sign" above at the upper right of the Current Games box.  Mine reads "Current Games (10)", but I don't get any of the paging options that you have where your red arrow is to click through the pages, not even a "1".  I have a list of my first 9 active games.  Thus I have no way to navigate to my 10th active game.

Contact support? I hear there is near-unanimity to reverse the change (I can't believe all of it was intended) but there must be important bug fixes included or it would have been rolled back already.

But do check you are on the daily page. If necessary, enter this URL manually:

Yeah, I'm on the daily page.

This is a new issue for me.  I have been using v3 for ages; this is a new bug.

edit: that is, I am confident this is unintentional, and not a feature.  I understand that you have been using it and switched back to v2.  I'm not going to go that far.  I'm sure they'll fix this soon.

skelos

Oh, it's not a feature! Why have the current games page at all if it doesn't show more than the daily page does?

You've a new problem if you don't have pagination for your games as others like me apparently do from the daily page, as unsatisfactory as that is.

Various other problems have been noted with archives and such and reported; I'm sure this will be fixed as soon as chess.com can without making things worse.

Software updates are always "interesting" and this one was interesting in the bad sense. sad.png

Additional thought: if you can't get to games you really want to, switch back to V2. I found it unfamiliar, less likeable than V3 (OK, I'm a heathen) and found a new bug as well, but I could see all my games on one page.

Desperate situations call for desperate measures!

skelos

Re-read your post: you don't want to go back to V2. Perfectly understandable. Still, for others reading this thread who hit the same problem you do (perhaps 10 games is "special" and my 20+ avoids some additional bug) V2 might do as a workaround. sad.png

skelos

"Perfectly workable" lets me see an overview of my games:

o which are in the opening and I can move quickly

o which are in won endgames, ditto

o all games from a thematic or especially an unrated endgame tournament, which I wish to address together

No, the current situation is a mess, and I'm confident it will be fixed. All but possibly @eulers_knot who have posted have found ways to continue their games, but the site has taken a usability nose-dive. Of course, if it's fixed in another day or two (I'm surprised it's not fixed already, if only by backing out the change) then in a month or two none of us will care; it will be history.

I have pagination now, though I am not sure if it's because chess.com fixed something or because I added an additional game, bringing my total number of active games to 11.  It appears that Nigel Tufnel was right: go to 11!

skelos

Looks like an "off-by-one" error plus the unwanted change.

I wasn't enthused by daily games going from 10 to 9 but it didn't seem enough to complain about. That 10 doesn't work ... please file a bug report? Reference this thread if it helps.

skelos

And in what I hope is an interim fix only, "Current Games" is now paginated in groups of nine games but doesn't waste download time with the archive.

Not really any better, although it will save a few people scrabbling to find the daily page if they don't regularly use it.

Hmm, I would have thought support would monitor this forum, but sure, I'll file a bug report.

Cheers, mate.

I've been the other side of IT support: usually, once a formal bug report is entered, someone has to do something, even if it's simply close it. There may well be staff looking at this forum, but unless they've hit the same problem (and some staff only play live chess, and maybe some don't play much at all, I don't know) then whether a problem is picked up here or not is a likely to be chancy.

I know the whole "Current Games" thing has an open ticket (but I don't know the number). That the current limited use of "Daily Games" as a workaround is OK if you have nine games or eleven but not ten is worth a report.

What about 17,18,19? 26,27,28?

Duplicate problem reports are easy; distinct good clear ones are useful when telling managment, "No, this is a real problem, and we need to allocate resources to fix it."

Mind,  you're talking to someone who put a ship hold on a whole operating system release once, and faced down the responsible manager of the responsible division. happy.png We negotiated a compromise for what his people would fix and what I would waive. Interesting meeting ...
