Not ideal, but as a workaround you could consider signing up with a different username, getting a gold membership with paypal options, and then giving the username & password to your friend as a gift.

Is it okay to use my Paypal-account in combination with his Chess-account? He can login with his own account and then I use my Paypal-account for that Gold Membership for him.. It this an option maybe?

Yes you can gift with paypal. You'd need to contact billing with your details and their username, which premium level you want to gift, and how long for then we can do this for you.

For me pay pall didn't work aswell. It kept asking me to add a creditcard to pay pall and refusing all other ways to pay with pay pall! Which I didn't have, which was the reason I wanted to use pay pall in the first place.
In the end I got the upgrade by asking someone who has a creditcard to give me a gift membership and then transfered the same amount of money via my pay pall account to his. A very unhandy way to upgrade your account!
If this could be arranged by contacting billing (I did submit it as a question in the question box but never got an answer!) then it would be a good idea to provide a link by the paying information. Many europeans don't have a credit card and thus can't upgrade their account, while they would have if there was an easy way to pay.

However, sometimes paypal may require you have a credit card or such like attached to your paypal account before you can purchase certain things.
I know its a pain. Some things paypal allows me to buy, some things it tells me i need a card attached to my account.

I would like to give a friend of mine a gold membership as a gift.
I used Paypal to pay for my own Premium membership cause I don't have a creditcard. It looks like it's impossible to use Paypal for a gift, is this correct?
