I'm not saying the situation was for sure on your end, or between you and the site, or on the site side. I've actually seen some slowness in forums in the past few minutes so there may be some issues happening.
Lagged out of a game while the rest of chess.com was loading just fine

The times started flashing, the board was unresponsive, and a few minutes later I lost on time. Meanwhile the forums were loading immediately, no other sites were lagging, etc.
Live, being more real time, isn't as forgiving as other parts of the site and can be more easily impacted by connection issues.
