2022 and still an issue

Hello! I also came across this problem recently (using Brave browser).

What worked for me was turning hardware acceleration on (I had it turned off in order to be able to watch Netflix shows on Discord with my friends   )

On Chromium based browsers, this can be done trough the System settings (chrome://settings/system).

This might not work for everyone, as hardware acceleration is turned on by default, but it worked for me, and maybe it's going to help someone else with this problem.

Found a fix. I had hardware acceleration off by default on chrome as I want my GPU to dedicate its resources to games.

Turning "Animation Type" to "None" solved the issue for me. It was on "Natural" before. An alternative fix would be to turn on hardware acceleration, if you're happy with chrome using the GPU. Not sure why such a simple animation puts so much stress on the CPU

That's it, thank you! Medium (the default) also works, and probably anything but Natural. Not sure how mine got changed from the default.

I think that chess.com uses your computer in analysis mode that much because the engine keeps running in the background. They could be using all the computers as a cluster too for other engine calculations.

The client engine is only used client side.

hey i found a better solution:

get a better laptop/computer/monitor/PC/tv or get a bad computer but with a swappable CPU and then buy a good cpu and then take your replaceable CPU computer apart and put the new CPU you bought inside and then reload chess.com and log in and play a game and that should work perfectly fine if not read this again↑

anyone find a fix? im getting 70-100% cpu usage when playing on chess.com. cleared cache and cookies, turned off all extensions. also happens with the other browsers and with the chess.com windows app. makes it unplayable. i dont like playing on lichess cause the rating being different, but thats the only place i can play. please help

This has been frustrating for me. Sometimes when playing chess.com I experience random high CPU usage, which causes the game to freeze and lose 15-30 seconds which leads to losing.
