I just to struggle and had the same feeling about this, but don’t worry because is very easy and obvious like you mention
just look for the flag that is there in the option menu, just scroll up a little bit and you’ll find it
How to resign?
Sort:
On my board, when you are in PLAY MODE, at the VERY BOTTOM, on the right hand side, under PLAY , you will find the three menu dots .
Click on the dots. Under "Chess", you will see - when you put your cursor on it, in the top row, first: an icon for PLAY; to the right of that , an icon for DRAW; to the right of that - a flag icon. That's the RESIGN icon you need to click on it to resign.

Another newbie embarrassed confused as to how one resigns...not a good design me thinks
This is some of the poorest software I have seen from a user interface perspective. I simply cannot find a way to resign when playing against the computer. It's ridiculous.

There really isn't any need to resign against the computer. Just download the game if you want a copy of the game, start a new one, or close it out. You can resign against the bots in Live and shouldn't abandon those.
On the iPhone it is the three dots for pull down menu. Contained there ...
