How was my opponent able to make this illegal move? Bug?

I was playing as black and went pawn e5 and had a pawn d6. my opponents pawn was d5. after i played pawn e5, he captured with his d5 pawn and it ended up on e6. on my game the pawn is clearly placed on e5 so how is it possible he did this?
