This happens to me sometimes. I am not a computer expert but I believe there is a problem with chess.com's servers. When too many people try to connect into chess.com the servers are not able to fulfill all of the requests and they put you on hold and you time out. In other words, chess.com is just too poplular. When this happens you just have to keep trying until you make a connection.

No..no no... thats different!! If I use different network or the same internet connection on different computer, then it opens. Only when I use my laptop, with my internet connection then only chess.com doesn't open. If i try different internet connection, it opens!!

I had trouble connecting just a few minutes ago. I am paying a premium for a good connection so I don't see why this should happen at all.

If this is the way they treat their paying members then maybe when my membership runs out I will not renew.
I don't know jack about computers but other members have mentioned wireless connections to their networks as a source of problems. You hardwired to your network or wireless?

What part of chess.com are you having trouble accessing? Is it the entire site itself or perhaps just live chess?
Other than 3g, is there any other connection you can use? Such as Wifi?
Which browser are you using?

Thanks for posting: I use vodafone dongal for the internet connection. Unfortunately rarely I can use some other network than mine because chess.com, being gaming site is banned in my office. Now the problem is that ONLY SOMETIMES I can't open anything in chess.com. Not live chess or nothing at all though other sites open easily. It doesn't seem to be a JAVA problem either because for other sites I do use JAVA. But there is no pattern in this problem.. sometimes it would easily open.. sometimes not!! I didn't face this problem with other internet connection though I rarely used them to open chess.com. Also I tried changing browsers, OS and tried clearling cache, updating OS and so on. Sometimes it is very irritating since for hours I can't open chess.com.

What happens exactly, when you try to access chess.com? If it is banned where you access it then that's probably the cause of why you can't access the site.

No.. only that chess.com server is taking too long to respond. Also when it opens, nowdays its dead slow though my internet connection is 3g!

I am in extremely confusing and annoying situation. I use an internet connection which is 3g so that there is no problem about speed. But from last two months I am facing this problem. Using my internet on my laptop, I can open any site with no problem at all. But when it comes to chess.com, there is no guaranttee that it will open. I use Windows as well as Ubuntu on my laptop. The problem happens for both of them. My internet provider are saying that its not their problem and they are giving me data with 3g speed. I contacted chess.com also but they couldn't help much. Though strange, it happens ONLY for chess.com. Sometimes it opens.. sometimes never loads.. I tried everything.. Changing OS, browsers, clearing caches n cookies and what not.. Can somebody who knows about computers help me please?
