why don't people read messages that we send?? we sent a message to everyone with how to remove/minimize the meebo bar :(
Take it off, it's very useless.

Is there a way to get rid of this stupid chat bar all together, not just 'go offline'?

You can completely turn off chat completely in your Privacy section (Account)
http://www.chess.com/home/privacy.html
Where it says "Chat Bar", use the drop down box and mark as "Never Show" then save settings at the bottom of the page
