When you resign you press the button and click Ok. Then you could say something friendly to your opponent. and then close. I think
You can see in the profile (online chess) which rating someone has and this is a measure of how the players qualities are.
Click "start a new game" and try typing in something like:
Rating Minumum = 850
Rating Maximum = 1100
Someone who challanges you in this range should be roughly your skill level.

camdawg7 : I was playing for the first time. The obvious move was to press resign. i was made check-mate afterall :) I will however keep your words in mind and wait for chess. com to precess the info and declare me check-made ( hope it will not happen that often . lol )

A question from a beginner on this site.
I was made checked-mate , it was obvious.I just did not know how to show this, it was clear that I had no other move to do with my king, so I went to the "resign"button and pressed it. Is that redundant ? Can I just close the game or press "resign" when I lose ?
And my second question: how do I find other beginner players ? Because it is hard to be accepted as opponent by experienced players. Although, how is one supposed to learn, if they don't also practice what they read in theory ??
