ditto. It has worked great for years but not now.
interface freezing. can't move

Have all the same issues. Sluggish draggy mouse and absolutely no way to play speed when distracted with page freeze and reload. Mac IOS

This has been happening to me more and more frequently the last few days. I've dropped probably 200 rating points in blitz due to pieces being sluggish or not moving at all when I click and try to drag them. On a few occasions I have dropped a piece on a square and it reverts to the old square, while the new square remains highlighted and 5-6 seconds later the piece "magically" moves to where I dropped it. I've also seen my opponent's pieces teleport in similar ways. Incredibly frustrating especially in a time scramble. I'm sure it's related to the ads because when it's happening I always see "waiting for blablabla.chess.com" or something like that in the bottom left corner of my Chrome." It's getting to the point where I'm thinking of going back to ICC. You can be sure that when the site is lagging like this, I am NOT interested in paying $100 for a diamond membership.

I just got my Internet increased from 75 to 150 this morning
Every other internet site is blazing FAST!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This site keeps killing my games.
Thanks for recommendation o f ICC. Let me check it out!!

The problem isn't at your end. I have 100 mbps, and stopped getting used to 10-20 second page loading times more than 15 years ago. Those are normal here now though...

We released some new code today for this; do you notice anything different? Especially in live chess.

Same problem--can't move the pieces in V3 or they become very sluggish. Everything worked great in V2 but live chess is discontinued in the old V2 version of the site. Both in Safari and Firefox. Firefox v. 56.0.2 64-bit version. The whole V3 site seems sluggish. I have a very fast iMac and my internet connection is 15 mbps upload speed. Can no longer play games at chess.com.

The few days have been diabolical again. I was a member once, and have considered doing it again, but every-time i do it seems like have no idea how to make their site work
Playing with Chrome and it started to freeze in the middle of the game a few weeks ago. Now impossible to play. What is V2 vs V3? How do I go back? Please help!
I too have been crippled by freeze-ups in Live Chess. Chrome Version 63.0.3239.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Win7 Pro updated. I notice several things. First it starts to be sluggish, then freezes entirely. Killing the tab (Chrome answers that, but very slowly) and opening a new one fixes the problem temporarily but by then one has lost a minute or so, and usually, the game.
The other thing is graphics jitter. (A) the mouse cursor is flickering all the time (B) the status popup in the lower left corner of the Chrome window ("Connecting..." etc) is constantly appearing and disappearing; (C) something I have not quite identified causes the vertical scroll bar on the right edge of the windows to the right of the chessboard to appear/disappear, sometimes several times in a second, incessantly. This causes the window to which the scroll bar belongs to jump back and forth as it gets wider/narrower to accomodate the scroll bar. Extremely distracting.
I have two monitors but normally run with Chess.com full-screen on the main one, resolution 1600 x 1200. If I enlarge the window to use both screens, it doesn't help.
All these things look like a script that is running amok trying to re-render things too often, and eventually running out of memory because it's not deallocating things it creates. (But I'm not a web developer.)
I'd love to support chess.com and pay for membership but not if it's going to be like this. Does anyone have definite evidence that these problems do or do not occur for paid subscriptions?
My son has a paid subscription and playing on the same Mac laptop he does not have any freezing pieces problems that I had just a minute before. So, it appears that the site (intentionally or not) cripples the game for free accounts. Sad...

i don't believe there is any difference for premium and non-premium accounts.
there are a range of opinions as to the cause of your problem, staff will generally tell you to clear your cache, cookies and browsing history, things like that, some others might tell you to try another browser.
my own opinion is that v3 is the problem. even @MagnusCarlsen complained that "it was like my pieces were stuck in the mud".
to get back to v2 you need to find "old site" in your menu, but you should be warned that a lot of features have now been disabled in v2. you will find it runs much faster though...
the site owner is admin of these 2 groups, he wants to hear about problems with v3, it might be worth your while joining one or both...

You may be correct, but it would be reasonable to expect a difference since Premium memberships are stated to have "NO Ads"...
Fundamentally I agree that V3 is the underlying problem and I continue to use V2 whenever possible.
this site has become a " free-king " joke. Ads are the problem.
