Honestly I do feel like it is not fair to some degree because in OTB you wouldn't use that, you would prepare for it for the tournament, not look back at the moves you can do.

Also it is not fair because it is only for the people who have memberships can use it past move 5 and it gives a disadvantage for the majority, so honestly it is shyed away in my mind, however I don't mind too much when playing with the people I know, however for a random opponent it makes it have a lessoned value to play daily games.

Personally I never used it because studying is better in my opinion than to use it on the jump, but that's just a preference.

But other than that it is a good tool to use and to learn from strictly, however to continually use, it seems weird but for those who can use it I suggest you use it, as that is why you have a membership so use all of your avaliable resources!

@TeacherOfPain, since the rules are the same for everybody, this is by definition not unfair. You don't do it OTB, but what does that have to do with fairness? It's a different game with different rules. Re (premium) memberships: you can use any game database, not just the chess.com opening explorer. There are free databases out there. I never used the opening explorer.

TeacherOfPain

@Sred I am pretty sure most people don't use it, correct me if I am wrong?

Of course people use it, but it is much different in other Formats so what are you talking about exactly?

Also Did you have to respond to my responce?

Also since you have a memebership shouldn't you be using you resources since it is fair?

Also it is the same game just online, with different formats, am I right? But even so how could I be wrong in this instance, as it is on online with different formats...

What I am trying to say is does it really matter? Play how you want to play I don't mind as why should I mind how other play when I am playing my own game as well? Also I said it was weird, but didn't you catch the last sentence, you probably didn't but that is ok, here is what I said:

"But other than that it is a good tool to use and to learn from strictly, however to continually use, it seems weird but for those who can use it I suggest you use it, as that is why you have a membership so use all of your avaliable resources!"

And with using databases why can't a person just play the game without them, surely the better player will win, but then again go ahead why not, it is chess after all as without the rules pretty much anything goes so play on!

No.

Consulting opening books is also allowed for correspondence chess.  In fact, this has been common practice for many decades.  The point is to learn from the accumulated knowledge of others.  And the books will only help a player through the opening/early middle game.  After that, the player is on their own again.

I use Alpha-zero throughout my whole games. Is that cheating?

......just kidding!

"Daily chess has been designed as an online platform for correspondence chess, where books have always been allowed - for obvious reasons." This is a great point @Sred.
