Then/than is my pet hate.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
This i never understood...
You have to take the time to actually type out the swear word. In that time, you couldnt think of something more intelligent to type?
Its not like you hit your thumb with a hammer. You had to take the time to type out a swear word, so dont use the lame excuse that you were mad/angry/etc.
You took the time, use that time to cool off.
they used to just filter the curse words and that was enough in my opinion. given i second chance i never swear. sorry for being emotional during my leasure time. A 0 tollerance policy is far to severe. i understand that kids play on this site but so do adults so let be real here

You'll be back on in seventeen minutes.
FBI gonna track me down for this kid next to me sending random... stuff (so subtle) and got ban from chess.com
Don't the curse words get blocked? Why not just throw that annoying warning up and be done with it? Moral police over here changing the outcome of the game for no reason. Some people curse, get over it. No need to kick them for 30 minutes to show them you personally don't like it. Don't want it on the site, simply continue keeping it blocked from chat. This policy clearly goes too far.
Listen, I am nicely playing chess, and your game is purposely glitching me OUT SAYING I KEEP ABORTING GAMES when IM NOT. I did it TWO TIMES because some guy was harassing me. NOWWWW all of a sudden im getting warnings EVERY SINGLE GAME I TRY TO PLAY that your going to kick me out. Will YOU PLEASE FIX THISSSS.
I am kicked but he was first swarn me.
"Swarn" is not a word in English. If you were trying to say that your opponent swore first, that is unfortunate but is not a defense. This is not the old West.
He probably misspelled his swears deliberately knowing that he would avoid getting kicked and trying to get a reaction from you. Next time, don't respond or at least learn how to misspell like a native speaker.
Is there a written policy stating the duration of & reason for suspension?
Also, is there a list of forbidden words?
Normally, there is a warning, unless a single chat has multiple occurrences, then it might immediately kick. However, it is normally an escalation. Warn, mute, then kick and there is a time element involved.
I am unaware of a written ploicy spelling out the durations but the reasons are mostly due to not following the site TOS and posting guidelines. First offense is normally 30 minutes, second in a short timeframe is an hour.
As to a list, no there isn't one published. Basically, if the word is considered an expletive or curse word, it isn't appropriate and can get flagged.
A thirty minute cool off ban seems a moderate and sensible approach to me.
I have yet to be sworn at here and have no wish for that to change.
Swearing would have been unthinkable in any chess club of which I have been a member, even school clubs in the long ago.
There are plenty of internet chess sites and someone wishing to swear or taunt their opponent can seek one out where like minded folk gather. Or start one up if need be.
Earlier this morning I was restricted for "stalling ". The fact is that I was NOT guilty of stalling nor did I take long to move. Previous to this accusation I was playing a 10 minute game with someone else and this person burned up about 9 minutes until I was granted time victory. I love the Web site, I just think the fair game policy itself should too be fair
