Why are people able to Abort a game (rather than resign) several seconds from times-up??

There was a scheduled live server reboot. When that happens, all ongoing games are aborted.

Thank you for the article and responses. I am usually pretty observant and do not recall seeing a notice either time. But I’ll be watching more closely. So if I’m already in the middle of a game I should still see a notification?
