Live chess freezes when a game starts

Whenever I try to start a Live chess game, it semi-freezes. By that, I mean I can't see my opponent's name, chat, or moves. Live chess still shows the updated game graph, but it only shows tournyments, no regular green dots.

If I try to reload the page, it remains the same as above, except the loading symbol is infinitly spinning and the rest of the screen is greyed-out.  This only happens on my primary browser, Chrome. It seems like it works fine on other browsers such as Safari. Also, this happens on both the simple board and the advanced board. Online chess, however, is unaffected by this problem.

On a related note, I noticed a few youtube videos won't load because it says "missing plug-in" or something to that effect. This leads me to believe I have a plug-in issue with Chrome, but I have no idea what to do from here. Everything is up to date as far as I can tell. Can anyone help me please?
