I was playing against my friend rated 900 and I was 300 but I lost to him in a 1 min blitz game where I lost nearly 50 elo and now I'm 250 elo. why did I lose so much despite being rated much lower than him? all the elo mentioned was rapid if that helps.

I know bro, like why do you lose so much elo when your opponent is higher than you? It doesn't make sense.

The site uses the Glicko rating system, which includes a measure of rating uncertainty called the rating deviation (RD) value. Players with few games in a rating pool, or large gaps in play, will have a higher RD and see larger changes after games.

As more games are played, the RD value decreases, as does the magnitude of rating change.

You haven't played many bullet games, so your RD value is high, and you'll see larger changes after games.
