lol. when you sign up for a tourney, you gotta follow through... your chess rating will take care of itself.

Not true. The skill in chess is getting good results, which exactly what the rating corresponds to. Of course you don't win every game because you're the higher rated player, but you have better results overall.
Don't worry I just lost about 60-70 points in 1 game by hanging my Queen then rook one after the other..
I was ahead 2 minor pieces before the blunder..Check it out if you like, look at my latest online game. I challenge you to find a bigger blunder

Yep, i was going to play that, but got distracted with possible checkmates. That's the blunder. 
Just blundered another game away too, on a roll atm.
